Con su colección True Cost gana el premio Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent. La colección se inspira en dos realidades paralelas: la que vivía Francis Bacon y plasmaba en sus cuadros, y la que vivimos ahora nosotros con el consumo del “fast fashion”.
Una de estas realidades toma inspiración en el robo de cinco cuadros de Francis Bacon, tomando colores de su obra y evoca las formas desiguales con los cuerpos mutilados que plasmaba el artista. Así mismo el diseñador se expresa en frases bordadas en las espaldas de sus chaquetas.
A través de los tejidos que predominan en esta colección como las rejillas, neoprenos, plásticos pintados a mano, terciopelo y lurex, nos comunica una línea que lo identifica como diseñador estelar. Los zapatos son fruto de una colaboración con Chocolatdor, con curiosos tacones transparentes y alzados sobre bases de formas geométricas.

«True Cost» is the winning collection, placing Juan Carlos Pajares as the prestigious winner of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent Award. The collection is inspired by two parallel realities: one lived by Francis Bacon and embodied in his paintings, and the other one, that now existing ‘fast fashion’ consumption trend.
One of these realities is inspired from the robbery of five paintings of Francis Bacon, taking colors from his work and evoking the ununiformed figures that the artist painted. Also the designer takes the opportunity to express himself with the embroidered phrases on the backs of his jackets.
The fabrics that predominate in this collection are the fishnet tights, neoprene, hand painted plastics, velvet and lurex. They all communicate a line that identifies him as the stellar designer he is. The shoes are the result of a joint collaboration with Chocolatdor, showing us a series of curious transparent heels and raised on geometric shapes.
